The Nigerian Senate has appointed a 12-member committee to collaborate with the House of Representatives on the proposed amendment to the Electoral Act.
President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, announced the composition of the committee on Tuesday during an emergency plenary session convened to consider contentious aspects of the bill.
Among those named to the committee are Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator Tahir Mungono.
The emergency session is focused on deliberations surrounding key amendments to the Electoral Act, as lawmakers move to reconcile positions with the House of Representatives.
