A businessman in Minna, Niger State, has raised alarm after his two children were allegedly abducted by a security guard employed in his household.

The children’s father, Alhaji Danjuma, a resident of the Brighter Area of Minna, confirmed the incident on Monday while speaking with journalist Nuruddeen Isyaku Daza.

According to Danjuma, the suspect reportedly took the children from their home on Sunday while he was away. He said the security guard informed family members that he was taking the children out to celebrate the Eid festivities and left with them on a motorcycle that had been provided for his use.

Concern arose when the children failed to return home by evening, prompting the family to begin a frantic search.

Danjuma said relatives visited several hospitals across Minna, fearing the children might have been involved in an accident. However, their worst fears deepened when they allegedly received information suggesting the children had been taken by kidnappers.

The businessman disclosed that later that night, he received a phone call from individuals who claimed to be calling from the Erena forest area in Shiroro Local Government Area.

According to him, the callers informed him that his children were in their custody and demanded a ransom for their release.

The incident has thrown the family into distress, with Danjuma appealing for prayers and support from the public as efforts continue to secure the safe return of the children.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had not issued an official statement on the alleged abduction.
