Tolu Arokodare, the 24-year-old Genk forward, was overcome with emotion after making his debut for the Super Eagles in their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali on Friday
Arokodare has been one of Nigeria’s highest-scoring strikers in Europe this season, with 19 goals and five assists across all competitions for Thorsten Fink’s side.
His impressive form earned him a place in new Eagles boss Eric Chelle’s final 23-man squad for the qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Arokodare replaced two-goal hero Victor Osimhen in the closing minutes of the game.
After the match, he broke down in tears in the locker room, overwhelmed by emotions as the magnitude of his achievement sank in.
