Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed his willingness to resign if it would lead to peace or secure NATO membership for Ukraine.

During a press conference in Kyiv on Sunday, Zelenskyy stated, “Yes, I am happy, if it is for the peace of Ukraine.” He added, “If you need me to leave this chair, I am ready to do that; and I also can exchange it for NATO membership for Ukraine.”

Zelensky’s comments is coming after US President Donald Trump called him a “dictator without elections” few days ago.

Ukrainian legislation banned elections during martial law, which has been in place since Russia launched its invasion in February 2022.

Many casualties have been recorded as a result of the war between the neighbouring nations.
