Russia Releases First-Ever CCTV Footage of Crocus City Hall Terror Attack That Killed 149

Russian authorities have released previously unseen surveillance footage showing the deadly terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall concert venue near Moscow, which claimed 149 lives and left hundreds of others injured in March 2024.

The footage, released by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) on Wednesday, October 14, shows armed men moving through the concert hall as terrified attendees attempt to flee or hide from the gunfire. The recordings also capture the moments before a fire broke out and spread through the building.

The attack occurred on March 22, 2024, shortly before a scheduled performance by Russian rock band Piknik. Four armed assailants stormed the venue and opened fire on concertgoers, triggering widespread panic before setting the building ablaze.

The Islamic State’s Afghan affiliate, Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K), claimed responsibility for the attack, one of the deadliest terrorist incidents in Russia’s recent history.

The latest footage was released alongside information concerning a Russian Supreme Court decision declaring a group associated with followers of Ingush religious leader Batal-Haji Belkhoroyev a terrorist organisation. The FSB alleged that members of the group helped prepare the attack by supplying weapons and ammunition to the perpetrators.

On March 12, 2026, a Russian military court sentenced 19 people in connection with the massacre, handing life imprisonment to 15 defendants, including the four men identified as the direct attackers.

The release of the footage offers a new glimpse into the horrific events inside the concert venue, where dozens of victims were killed by gunfire while others died in the ensuing fire and from smoke inhalation.
