Executive Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, Hon. Bature Sati Shuwa, has embarked on a landmark tour of the LGA to commission multiple projects executed under his administration, with a focus on strengthening security, improving healthcare delivery, and enhancing education.
The exercise began in Ganawuri District, where the Chairman commissioned the newly renovated Danwal Police Station. Speaking at the event, Hon. Shuwa reiterated that security is a collective responsibility and urged residents to support security agencies in sustaining peace. He disclosed that, in addition to the renovation, his administration donated a brand-new motorcycle to boost police surveillance.
He appealed to citizens to protect and maintain public facilities provided in their communities, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented projects that promote development and improve livelihoods across Riyom.
Former Minister of Sports, Hon. Damishi Sango, who represented the Danwal community, commended the Chairman for prioritizing security, stressing that “without security, nothing will move and no one will sleep.” He appealed for the provision of a functional patrol vehicle to further enhance security operations in the area.
Leader of the Riyom PDP Elders Forum, Ngo Mary Dang, also praised the Chairman’s efforts, noting that despite limited resources—much of which go into addressing persistent security concerns—the council continues to implement impactful projects.
The Chairman proceeded to other communities to commission additional projects, including new Primary Health Care facilities in Wereng and Tahoss, expected to expand access to basic healthcare, improve maternal care, and reduce infant mortality.
Other completed projects include the renovation of a three-classroom block and office at LEA Primary School, Kyi; the commissioning of a new Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) office in Riyom to replace the vandalized structure; and the unveiling of a solar-powered cold chain facility funded by the German Government (GIZ) and implemented by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in collaboration with the LG Council. The facility is designed to preserve vaccines and essential drugs for preventing and treating zoonotic diseases.

At LEA Primary School, Kyi, residents—especially children and mothers—celebrated the intervention with songs, expressing gratitude to the Council Chairman.
Goodwill messages were delivered by several dignitaries, including Deputy Chairman Hon. Gwong Song; Riyom PDP Chairman Hon. Tama Song; Secretary of the Elders Forum, Da Yusuf Kwon; Gwom Tahoss, Da Kim Dalyop; Gwom Wereng, Da Davou Gyang; Head Teacher of Kyi LEA Primary School, Mrs. Martha Mwanti; among other stakeholders, all applauding the Chairman’s developmental strides.
Hon. Bature Sati Shuwa was accompanied on the tour by top management staff and directors of the Council.
