Also endorses Tinubu, Governor Mutfwang, urges peace and supports zoning arrangement in Barkin Ladi/Riyom constituency
The Riyom APC Youth Council has formally endorsed Hon. Engr. Dalyop Fom Chollom for a second term in the House of Representatives, citing his quality representation and a strategic political agreement between the local government areas of the constituency.
The endorsement was announced during a press conference held on May 12, 2026, at the Yelwa Club in Bukuru. The council, led by Chairman Comrade Pam Nuhu Daniel, Secretary Comrade Patience Shishang Chaimang, and other members, said the decision followed extensive consultations with party elders, women groups, and traditional stakeholders.

The zoning swap agreement
According to the group a central part of the endorsement is a political resolution reached by constituency stakeholders on April 28, 2026. According to the council, elders from both Riyom and Barkin Ladi local government areas agreed to a tenure swap to ensure political balance.
Under the arrangement, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area will produce the candidate for the 2027 election, while Riyom will take the seat for two consecutive terms from 2031 to 2039.
As responsible youths who respect constituted authority, we stand firmly by this resolution and call on all stakeholders to honour and protect the agreement reached, the council stated.
Focus on performance and stability
Beyond political arrangements, the Youth Council praised Hon. Chollom’s performance as a first-time lawmaker. They highlighted key areas of impact including youth empowerment through skills and engagement programmes, improved healthcare support for constituents, and what they described as his commitment, accessibility and responsiveness at the National Assembly.
The group argued that returning an experienced lawmaker would strengthen representation, secure strategic committee positions, and attract more federal projects to the constituency.
Call for peace and unity
The endorsement comes amid heightened security concerns in parts of Plateau State. The council strongly condemned recent attacks in communities such as Rim, Jol and Bachit, describing them as unacceptable.
While commending the Plateau State Government’s peacebuilding efforts, the youths urged security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend perpetrators and warned against political activities that could deepen divisions in the area.
Politics should never divide brothers and neighbours, the statement read. Instead, it should serve as a tool for development, justice, fairness and collective progress.
Other Endorsements and Political Positioning
Beyond the endorsement of Hon. Chollom, the group also declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term, as well as Governor Caleb Mutfwang and his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, for another term in office.
It commended ongoing governance efforts in Plateau State and urged security agencies to intensify action against recurring attacks in parts of the state, while condemning recent violence in Riyom and Barkin Ladi communities.
The council further appealed for unity within the APC, calling on party members and stakeholders to avoid divisive politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
