Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly ordered his two eldest daughters to relocate to a heavily fortified residence in the Valdai region amid concerns over his personal security, according to a recent investigative report.
The report, published by an investigative outlet identified as We Can Explain, alleged that Putin’s daughters, Maria Vorontsova and Katerina Tikhonova, have moved to a highly guarded palace complex located about 230 miles northwest of Moscow.
According to the report, the move also involved members of their immediate families, including grandchildren. The residence is said to be protected by extensive air defence systems and is located in a secluded forest area between two lakes.
The claims come amid heightened security concerns in Russia as Ukrainian drone and missile strikes have reportedly reached deeper into Russian territory.
Separately, the Financial Times reported that Russian authorities recently carried out urgent security checks on the country’s surveillance camera network over fears that the system could be compromised and used to track sensitive movements. According to the report, portions of the surveillance network were temporarily disconnected from the internet while engineers assessed potential vulnerabilities.
Vorontsova, an endocrinologist, and Tikhonova, who is involved in Russia’s science and technology sector, are the daughters of Putin and his former wife, Lyudmila Putina.
The Kremlin has not publicly commented on the reports, and the claims regarding the relocation of Putin’s family have not been independently verified.
