Popular Nigerian evangelist, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away at the age of 80.
According to The Punch, his death was confirmed in a statement issued by his family on Monday, stating that the revered cleric died on October 6, 2025.
Rev. Ukpai was the founder and president of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, a ministry known for its nationwide and international crusades focused on healing and revival.
Tributes have begun pouring in from across the Christian community. Prophet Joel Ogebe, in a post on X, mourned the late preacher, writing:
“A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo.”
Christian media outlet Church Gist also confirmed his passing in a Facebook post that read:
“A GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER, SIR.”
Rev. Uma Ukpai was widely respected for his decades of evangelistic work, mentorship, and commitment to spreading the gospel across Nigeria and beyond.
