James Chambers, the world-renowned reggae singer and actor famously known as Jimmy Cliff, has died, his family announced on social media.
According to a statement on Cliff’s official Facebook page, the entertainer passed away “due to a seizure followed by pneumonia.”
“It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” his wife wrote. She expressed gratitude to family, friends, fellow artists, and fans worldwide, noting that their support had been a source of strength throughout his career.

Cliff’s wife also thanked his medical team, writing: “I wanted to thank Dr. Couceyro and the whole medical staff, as they have been extremely supportive and helpful during this difficult process. Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will follow your wishes.”
She requested privacy for the family during this difficult time and said further information would be provided at a later date.
