The Plateau State Association, USA, Inc. (PSA-USA) has sponsored the enrollment of 200 vulnerable women into the Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) health insurance scheme in Tudun Wada, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The intervention, implemented in partnership with PLASCHEMA, forms part of PSA-USA’s strategic commitment to improving access to affordable healthcare and strengthening the well-being of vulnerable communities across Plateau State. The exercise recorded an overwhelming turnout, with more than 300 vulnerable women attending the event. While 200 women were successfully captured under the current sponsorship, demographic information was obtained from an additional 100 women who expressed interest in the program. PSA-USA has committed to working closely with PLASCHEMA to secure their enrollment in the next phase of the initiative, ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left behind.

Speaking on the intervention, PSA-USA National President, Dr. Barth Shepkong, described access to healthcare as a fundamental investment in human dignity and community development.

“This intervention reflects PSA-USA’s enduring commitment to improving the lives of the people of Plateau State through practical, sustainable, and measurable initiatives. We are encouraged by the overwhelming response from the community, and while we have sponsored the enrollment of 200 vulnerable women today, we are equally committed to working with PLASCHEMA to ensure that the additional women identified during the exercise are also enrolled. This is the kind of impact that strengthens families, promotes healthier communities, and demonstrates the transformative role of the diaspora in community development.”

PSA-USA commended the management and staff of PLASCHEMA for their professionalism and collaboration in the successful implementation of the exercise and expressed appreciation to the community leaders and residents of Tudun Wada for their active participation.
