Reports reaching us indicate an ongoing protest by staff has grounded academic and administrative activities at the Plateau State Polytechnic Jos Campus in the early hours of today Tuesday 28 March 2023.

At the time of this report, no Union Executive was on the ground to speak on the protest however a few of the women stated that they are  Plateau State Polytechnic Casual Staff who were recently disengaged by the institution.

And they came out to protest as they had worked as casual staff in the institution for 5 to 21 years with no hope of getting any permanent employment.

They added that after failed promises from the management of the institution, they discovered in October 2022 that over 700 new staff were employed in the institution with non of them considered even after they were assured that whenever Government lifts the ban on employment, they would be given priority. Sadly, they woke up on Friday, 24th March 2023 to be given letters of disengagement.

They also claimed to be owed 26 months’ salaries too.

There was no response from the management of the Plateau State Polytechnic as of the time of filing this report

The employees locked the gate of the Institution to disallow any entrance to the institution with various placards displayed.
