A stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Comrade Prince Miaphen has expressed optimism and excitement ahead of the formal reception of Governor Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang into the party, describing the development as a major boost for unity, peace and accelerated development in the state.
Speaking in Jos, Comrade Prince Miaphen welcomed Governor Mutfwang into the APC, while also extending a warm reception to the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and other governors, party leaders and faithful expected in Plateau State for the historic event.
Miaphen said the people of Plateau State, known for their peaceful and hospitable nature, are ready to receive all visitors and showcase the state’s rich culture, pleasant weather and tourism potential.
In an interview with journalists, Miaphen described the planned reception of Governor Mutfwang as a moment of joy for him and many Plateau citizens who had long desired the governor’s return to what he termed the political mainstream.
“I am glad as a proud Plateau person to witness this occasion. For a long time, we have agitated for His Excellency to come back to the mainstream. Receiving him into the APC is a thing of joy, not only to me but to the entire Plateau people, because it will bring peaceful coexistence, progress and more development. When people are united in a common cause, you expect more and you achieve more,” he said.
He commended the decision of Governor Mutfwang to align with the APC and appreciated the national leadership of the party for accepting and formally receiving him.
Miaphen also saluted the resilience, sacrifices and mutual understanding demonstrated by Governor Mutfwang, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and former Plateau State Governor Senator Simon Lalong, describing their collaboration as a strategic choice in the collective interest of Plateau State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the unity among the three leaders has contributed to a return of political calm and stability in the state, reducing bitterness and hostility while restoring confidence in the political process.
He further praised Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda for his inclusive leadership style and efforts at bringing all stakeholders together, noting that this has strengthened the APC in Plateau State.
Miaphen expressed confidence in the Central Planning Committee for the grand reception, led by Rt. Hon. Idris Maje Wase, saying the calibre of individuals involved guarantees a well-organised, colourful and memorable event.
He congratulated the people of Plateau State for embracing unity, brotherhood and a shared vision for the future, stressing that collective cooperation remains the key to sustainable peace and development.
The official reception of Governor Mutfwang into the APC is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in Jos.
