President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his planned trip to Iperu, Ogun State, and will instead visit Jos to commiserate with victims of recent attacks in Plateau State.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s visit to Jos is aimed at sympathizing with the government and people of the state following the killings of innocent citizens in recent gun attacks.
The President had earlier been scheduled to travel to Ogun State to flag off operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport but adjusted his itinerary in response to the situation in Plateau.
After his visit to Plateau State, Tinubu is expected to proceed to Lagos to observe the Good Friday.
On April 4, the President will travel to Ogun State for the commissioning of the cargo airport and the inauguration of two commercial aircraft to support import and export activities.
He will also inaugurate the new Federal Operations Unit facility of the Nigerian Customs Service, along with operational vehicles.
During the Easter period, Tinubu is expected to commission several infrastructure projects in Lagos State executed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, including the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a multi-agency complex, and a school project.
The President is also scheduled to visit Bayelsa State on April 10 to commission projects completed by Governor Duoye Diri, before returning to Abuja.
