President Bola Tinubu has called for a blend of public and private financing to support Nigerian universities.

This proposal came in on Monday in the wake of rising tuition fees at universities across the country.

President Tinubu argued that by combining public and private financing, Nigerian universities could access the resources necessary to enhance the quality of university education.

He said this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, at the 37th and 38th combined convocation ceremonies of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).

Represented by the Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Tanko Sununu, the president called on “corporate bodies, communities and individuals to support our universities.

Earlier, the vice chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, hailed the president’s commitment to change the fortunes of tertiary education.
