Bashir Ahmad, the Personal Assistant on New Media to President
Muhammadu Buhari, has also gone on Twitter to ask Elon Musk to donate
ventilators to Nigeria to help treat Coronavirus patients.

This comes after Twitter users expressed shocked when the Ministry of
Finance, Budget and National Planning sent a tweet to the American CEO
begging him to donate ventilators to Nigeria (read here).

The unusual plea from the Ministry of finance was described as
“embarrassing” and “shameless” by some Nigerians. Some opined that it
would have been better if they reached out to him privately, instead of
on a public platform like Twitter.

But some said we are in desperate times and any measure taken to save lives is acceptable.

While Nigerians were still calling out the Ministry of Finance, Bashir also tweeted at Elon to ask for aid.

He wrote: “Hello Elon, I woke up to this your tweet all over the TL,
in this period of worldwide emergency getting ventilators is pretty hard
no matter how much money you get, and that’s understandable! Nigeria,
my dear country is in need. Kindly send 100s here, we really need them,
thanks.”

Elon Musk took to Twitter hours ago to reveal that his company,
Tesla, has extra ventilators and he’s willing to ship to hospitals that
need them worldwide.

He tweeted: “We have extra FDA-approved ventilators. Will ship to
hospitals worldwide within Tesla delivery regions. Device & shipping
cost are free. Only requirement is that the vents are needed
immediately for patients, not stored in a warehouse. Please me or @Tesla
know.”
