Popular JAYFM Jos OAPs invited by NBC over presentation of programmes

The National Broadcasting Commission has invited 6 popular JayFM On-Air Personalities for a meeting to address issues on presentation of programmes as well as current affairs matters.

Also sighting concerns for the upcoming 2023 elections, the invitation signed by the Zonal Director of the Commission, Nari Rikoto, requested a meeting with the OAPs at the state office in Jos for Tuesday 2nd November 2021.

Recall that on the 1st of March, 2019, the Jos-based radio station, JAY FM was shut down under controversial circumstances for an alleged breach of broadcasting code of conduct as the 2019 elections were building up which later resulted in a court petition.

The National Broadcasting Commission and the management of a leading private radio station in Jos, JayFM, later opted for an out-of-court settlement before the reopening of the station which was then shut down for over two months.

In recent statements issued by the states ruling party, The APC has continuously fingered the radio station over some of its reports and alleged actions of the MD, Mr. Clinton Garuba who spoke for former Governor of Plateau State Dara Jonah David Jang, on the just concluded Local Government Elections in Plateau state.

Those invited for the meeting include celebrity comedian, Osama Akpunonu, station manager, Pedro Omobolaji while others include Ponsak Fanap, Opeyemi, Humpry and Zoe Machunga.
