Popular Nigerian photographer and biker, Orowole Kolapoz, widely known as Kola Onifoto, has died following a lone motorcycle accident in Lagos.

Kolapoz, 32, who was also a travel enthusiast and brand influencer, was reportedly involved in the crash on Sunday while embarking on what he described as his first solo motorcycle trip outside Lagos.

Hours before the incident, he shared a post on his Facebook page announcing his journey to Akure and applauding experienced bikers who have travelled across Nigeria, Africa and other parts of the world.

“Big shout out to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa, and across the world, especially women. My eye see wheeen,” he wrote.

After the accident, he was initially taken to an emergency unit operated by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ojota. He was later transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where friends and supporters continued to express hope for his recovery.

However, he passed away in the early hours of Monday, March 2.

His death has since sparked an outpouring of tributes on social media, with friends, colleagues and followers describing him as passionate, adventurous and inspiring.

Details surrounding the crash remain unclear. In January, Kolapoz had celebrated fulfilling a long-held dream of becoming a biker, sharing photos of himself and his motorcycle.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts to obtain an official response from the Lagos Sector Command of the FRSC were unsuccessful, as calls and a text message to its spokesperson had not been returned.
