The Nigeria Police Force has intensified security patrols and launched special clearance operations across seven local government areas of Plateau State as part of efforts to combat criminal activities, protect vulnerable communities and restore public confidence.
The operations, initiated on October 17, 2026, are being conducted under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, with personnel deployed to strategic locations across the state.

Before the commencement of the exercise, officers were briefed by the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, with support from the Operational Ground Commander, DCP Sunday Audu Peter, Commandant of the Police Mobile Training College, Ende Hills, Nasarawa State.
The police said the ongoing operations involve intensive patrols, area domination, clearance of suspected criminal hideouts, intelligence-led interventions and the protection of vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure. The exercise also includes engagement with community leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in addressing security threats.

According to operational reports, the clearance operations have covered Bassa, Jos South, Bokkos, Jos East, Mangu, Shendam and Qua’an Pan Local Government Areas. The police reported that several suspected bandits and militia members were neutralised during the operations, while identified criminal hideouts were destroyed.

The command further stated that no casualties had been recorded among the police personnel involved in the exercise, adding that all officers deployed had returned unharmed despite engagements with suspected criminal elements in some locations.

The operations are expected to continue as the police intensify efforts to address security challenges across Plateau State, particularly in vulnerable rural communities and urban centres.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, safeguarding lives and property, and working with relevant stakeholders to create a safer environment for residents of Plateau State and the country at large.
