Nigerian businesswoman and social media personality Hauwa Saidu Mohammed, popularly known as Jaruma, has reportedly been in police custody since Monday over social media posts relating to an alleged disagreement involving Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and a woman she described as his girlfriend.
According to reports by SaharaReporters, documents obtained from the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja indicate that Jaruma has been granted administrative bail, but the conditions require two sureties: a federal civil servant on Grade Level 15 or above and a business owner with landed property in Abuja.
A charge sheet reportedly shows that the police have filed a two-count case against Jaruma under the Cybercrimes Act. Prosecutors allege that she used her TikTok account between July and September 2026 to publish abusive messages and allegedly false claims concerning Rayan Ghassan Kamal, said to be Seyi Tinubu’s personal assistant.
Sources cited in the report alleged that the bail conditions were deliberately made difficult to meet to delay Jaruma’s release. However, the allegation has not been independently established.
The report further stated that a bodyguard attached to Seyi Tinubu, who was allegedly linked to information shared with Jaruma, appeared at the National Cybercrime Centre but was not detained.
Jaruma is reportedly expected to be arraigned on Monday. The charge sheet, however, does not name Seyi Tinubu as the complainant or establish that he personally ordered her detention.
The allegations against Jaruma have yet to be determined in court.
