The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed viral social media reports alleging that suspected Lukarawa terrorists have infiltrated forests around Ogbomoso and the Old Oyo National Park.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 10, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, described the claims circulating in a video and voice note as false, misleading, and without factual basis.

According to the police, investigations revealed that the video being shared online is an old clip that has been recycled and wrongly presented as a recent security incident to cause panic among residents.

“The Oyo State Police Command unequivocally rejects and dismisses the claims as false, misleading and entirely without factual basis,” the statement said.

The Command urged members of the public to rely only on verified information from official sources and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports that could heighten fear and tension in communities.

It added that security deployments have been strengthened across Ogbomoso and surrounding areas, including the Old Oyo National Park corridor, to maintain public safety and reassure residents.

The police also noted that intelligence-led operations, visibility patrols, and stop-and-search activities have been intensified in collaboration with local vigilante groups, hunters, and community stakeholders.

Authorities said security operatives remain on alert and are working to ensure early detection and rapid response to any genuine threats within the state.
