The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested three teenagers accused of abducting three siblings, all under 14 years old, from their home on Calabar Road, Sabon Layi, Kaduna North.
The children — Aslam Umar Lukman (14), Suleiman Umar Tanko (12), and Aliyu Umar Tanko (10) — were kidnapped on August 25, 2025, around 1:45 p.m. According to police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan, the abductors demanded a ransom of ₦50 million from their father.
“Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Command, through strategic intelligence gathering and tactical communication, lured one of the suspects, Richard Philip, the kingpin, out of their hideout and eventually arrested him,” Hassan stated.
During interrogation, Philip reportedly confessed to the crime and revealed that he conspired with Ibrahim Ma’aruf (18) and Abubakar Sadiq (15) to carry out the abduction, keeping the children hidden in his residence.
Acting on the information, the police stormed the location, arrested the accomplices, and rescued the three victims unharmed.
Hassan confirmed that the siblings have since been safely reunited with their family by the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command.
