The Plateau State Youth Council (PSYC) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting security agencies while holding them accountable, as it paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, to discuss pressing security concerns in the state.
The visit, which took place on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, was described by the Council as a proactive step toward strengthening coordination between youths and the Nigeria Police Force in the collective effort to safeguard lives and property across Plateau State.

Speaking during the engagement, the Chairman of the Plateau State Youth Council, who led a delegation of youth leaders from across the state, commended the Commissioner of Police for granting the audience and for his open-door leadership style, which he said has helped to build trust and collaboration between the Police and young people.
The Chairman also applauded the Plateau State Command and other security agencies for their ongoing efforts to restore peace and maintain public order, conveying the goodwill and confidence of Plateau youths in the leadership of the Command.
He highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the Youth Council to complement security efforts, including mobilising youths to participate in community vigilante groups across local government areas, fostering unity among diverse ethnic groups through a common youth platform, and promoting early warning mechanisms through the timely reporting of suspicious activities.
Calling for intensified security operations during the festive season, the Chairman noted that Plateau State has experienced over two decades of insecurity, with many major incidents historically occurring during festive periods. He urged security agencies to remain visible, alert, and proactive, stressing that youths are determined not to pass on the burden of insecurity to the next generation.
He reaffirmed the readiness of the Plateau State Youth Council to work closely with Police Divisions across the state, pledging the cooperation and support of Plateau youths in ensuring a peaceful and secure environment.

In his response, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina expressed appreciation to the Youth Council for the visit and commended its leadership for taking practical steps to support security efforts. He encouraged the Council to sustain and expand its initiatives, particularly in areas that promote peace and community engagement.
The Commissioner highlighted progress recorded in addressing security challenges and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property. He assured that the Command remains focused on maintaining stability in Plateau State and would not be distracted by negative narratives.
CP Adesina further emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration, especially in intelligence gathering, and assured that directives would be issued to all Divisional Commands to strengthen engagement and cooperation with the Plateau State Youth Council across the state.
