The just recently conducted Plateau Youth Council election that produced Comrade Lot Adas as new Chairman has been greeted with mixed reaction especially on the way the election was conducted.
The Plateau State DG ICT, David Daser, through a Facebook post on his verified page, went on to describe the electoral system as “not befitting of this generation”

On the just concluded Plateau Youth Council election.
For me, it is the learning curve. I learnt a lot in the entire electioneering process.
It was an Option A4 electoral model. A voting system where voters queue behind their choice candidates.
This method of voting for me isn’t befitting of this generation. I am not proud of it. What is Option A4 or “Kato bayan Kato” in 2021?
The Plateau Youth Council ought to model innovation and processes that the state government should emulate. No better time than now. This is the moment where the issue of electronic transmission is at the front burner.
A complete overhaul of the council from the method of selection of its leaders to the methods of response to issue that affects the youth. Who says we should wait a bit?
So what happened to electronic voting? Do we also need to throw seats before it gets approval?
I hope the new Exco move quickly to start changing things that are outdated in favour of innovation that can be a part of policies to be adopted statewide.
