The banquet is part of Governor Lalong’s efforts at diversifying the
economy of Plateau state from its current dependence on federal
government handouts (i.e, subvention), on to other areas of revenue
generation.
Governor Lalong stated to
the business community that “Plateau state is open for business” and
that the government will put in place business friendly policies which
will enable the small start up businesses to thrive.

He cited his visits to China as evidence of his commitment to tap on
the immense potential of opportunities in Plateau and called on all
investors to get in contact with his government on areas of interest. He
enumerated opportunities already compiled by PIPC (the investment
limited liability company) of the state.
This rallying call to investors is similar to the efforts of the
Lalong administration to re-focus Plateau citizens onto agriculture and
already several several policies and projects are being put in place to
make that happen.
