Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil, National and State Assembly Members, Politicians, Traditional Rulers amongst other dignitaries pay their last respect to the late Ngo Gwey Lyop Gyang, mother of Senator Istifanus Gyang who died at 95 years.
Speaking at the funeral service held at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Bethel Rawuru Fan, in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, the Speaker conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Plateau State House of Assembly to Senator Gyang and the entire Dung Gyang family over the loss of their revered mother.
He praised the late Ngo Lyop Gyang for her unwavering commitment and resilience .
He described her as a devoted mother who, despite being widowed for over four decades, raised her children with strength and purpose among them, Senator Istifanus Gyang, who has significantly contributed to the development of Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
The Speaker urged the Dung Gyang family to uphold the noble legacies of their mother, praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Delivering the sermon, COCIN General Secretary Rev. Dinfa Marshal who drew his text from 2 Corinthians chapter 5, reminded the congregation that life on earth is temporary and likened to living in tents.
He emphasized the importance of living to please God in order to attain eternal life, noting that the late Ngo Gyang lived a devoted life in service to God, even in her old age.
The COCIN General Secretary, highlighted that death is a universal reality and that every funeral should serve as a reminder of the Christian faith and hope of eternity.
In their separate Tributes Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Council Hon. Stephen Pwajok, and the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, who was represented by the Gwom Rwey of Barkin Ladi His Royal Highness Da Edward Gyang who commended the children of the deceased for taking good care of their mother and assured the family of the support of the traditional institution.
In his remarks, Senator Istifanus Dung Gyang expressed deep appreciation to Speaker Naanlong Gapyil, Members of the 10th Plateau Assembly, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, former Governors Jonah, Lalong, Dariye, Minister Humanitarian Affairs Prof. Yilwatda Nentawe, Religious and Traditional Rulers amongst others who visited to comfort them.
Senator Gyang celebrated his mother’s extraordinary life, highlighting her unwavering commitment to her family and community.
The Senator fondly remembered his mother as a pillar of strength, who, after the demise of her husband in 1976, took on the responsibility of raising eight children.
He said she instilled in them the values of patience, compassion, service to humanity, generosity, humility, integrity, and resilience.
According to him her love for the Lord was evident in her relentless faith and unwavering perseverance, inspiring her children to believe in the impossible and strive for excellence.
He added that her legacy will live on through her children, who will continue to cherish her values and principles.
The Senator prayed that the Lord would bless, keep, and rest his dear mother her soul.
Her remains was laid to rest on Monday at Senator Istifanus Gyang resident, Rawuru , Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
