The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, has called on Christians in Mikang Local Government Area to embrace unity, love, and peaceful coexistence, urging them to extend these virtues beyond the Church to other faith communities.
The Speaker made the call during the 2026 Easter Rally held at the Church of Christ in Nations, Tunkus, where he reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Mikang Chapter, in fostering unity among Christians.

Addressing participants, Daniel emphasized the need for believers to work collectively in advancing the gospel, noting that unity within the Church is critical, especially during the Easter season which symbolizes the victory of Christ.
“The Church must come together under one umbrella to celebrate unity, togetherness, and the virtues of Christ,” he said, urging Christians to remain steadfast in faith and committed to evangelism.
He further stressed that every believer has a role in the growth of the Church, whether through preaching, financial support, or active participation in soul-winning efforts.
In a major show of support, the Speaker pledged to collaborate with CAN towards the construction of a befitting secretariat in Tunkus. He also donated a Sharon vehicle and an undisclosed sum of money to the association to enhance its administrative and outreach activities.

Daniel, who participated in the Easter procession from the Long Tehl Palace in Baltep to the event venue, also called on the Church to continue supporting the administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, particularly in ongoing development efforts across the state.
Highlighting his contributions to the development of Mikang LGA, the Speaker listed several interventions, including payment of WAEC and NECO examination fees, sponsorship of JAMB registrations, and scholarship schemes for students in tertiary institutions.
He also noted his role in facilitating key road projects such as the Lifidi–Piapung–Baltep road and the Lalin–Garkawa road, aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activities in the area.

Additionally, Daniel recalled the distribution of fertilizers to farmers in the previous farming season and assured residents of expanded support in the upcoming season.
He reiterated his commitment to youth and women development, promising more intervention programmes in the near future.
In his remarks, CAN Chairman for Mikang LGA, Danjuma Burga, commended the Speaker for his support, particularly the donation of the vehicle, describing it as unprecedented in the area.
Also speaking, His Royal Highness, Donald Puntel, pledged to allocate land for the construction of the CAN secretariat and urged Christian leaders to continue promoting unity and peaceful coexistence.
The Secretary of the Women Wing of CAN (WOWICAN), Sihiyona Silas, also appreciated the Speaker’s interventions, especially in education support programmes, noting that they have eased the burden on many families. She appealed for additional support, including the provision of an 18-seater bus to aid evangelism efforts.
Special prayers were offered for the Speaker and his family at the event.
