The Plateau Lawyers Bar Forum has condemned the killing of residents in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, describing the incident as a “dastardly and heartless” act.

In a press statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Ledak D. Dafer, and secretary Dr. D. N. Dashe, Esq., issued on March 30, 2026, the forum expressed grief over the attack, noting that it reflects the growing insecurity across Plateau State.

The group said the March 29 attack in Angwan Rukuba is part of a pattern of violent incidents affecting several local government areas, including Wase, Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Jos South, Bassa, and now Jos North.

It extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

The forum called on the Plateau State Government to ensure that those responsible for the attack, as well as their sponsors, are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

It also urged authorities to investigate the alleged delayed response by nearby police formations during the incident.

Among other recommendations, the group called for stricter enforcement and possible amendment of existing laws regulating the use of commercial motorcycles within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, including stiffer penalties for violations.

The lawyers further advocated for the strengthening of the state’s security outfit, Operation Rainbow, through improved funding, modern equipment, and increased personnel deployment to flashpoints.

They also recommended the installation of solar-powered CCTV cameras in strategic locations across the Jos-Bukuru metropolis to enhance surveillance and intelligence gathering.

In addition, the forum called for measures to address urban safety concerns, including the removal of illegal motor parks, enforcement against street trading, and improved regulation of public spaces.

The group emphasized the need for decisive action by the government to restore security and protect lives and property across Plateau State.
