Plateau Joint Union of Tertiary Institution Strike Gets Compliance

The Joint Union of Plateau State Tertiary Institutions (JUPTI) which
resumed indefinite strike action on Monday 3rd
August, 2018 over what they termed failure of the
State Government to pay all their outstanding withheld salaries.

In a statement jointly signed by Mr Paul Dakogol and Solomon Ayum,
the Chairman and Secretary of JUPTI respectively and made available to
Newsmen, the Union said the Seven (7) working days ultimatum given to
the government which elapsed on 31st August, 2018 wasn’t honored by the
government which necessitated the indefinite strike action.

With the statement, the strike action commenced today Monday 3rd
August, 2018. It went further to state that during the strike action,
all administrative activities will be suspended with immediate effect
and the strike the statement posited will be total until the demands of
the Unions are met.

While the statement directed all staff to comply with the strike, the
statement said no staff is to receive any directive from any quarter
except from JUPTI.

Plateau State Polytechnic Jos Campus where
full compliance with the strike directive was noticed with students
stranded at the Institution’s gate which was locked, Vehicles were also seen at the gate with officials of JUPTI spotted ensuring compliance.
