The new speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Yakubu Sanda has warned the impeached speaker, Nuhu Abok Ayuba to stop parading himself henceforth as the speaker.
In emergency press briefing, Sanda alongside 12 other members who stormed the house in the evening hours of Monday after the impeached speaker was whisked away has slammed a suspension order on 5 of the pro Abok members including the impeached speaker Nuhu Abok Ayuba.
He however threatened to declare the former speaker Nuhu Abok Ayuba wanted for conduct inimical to the interest of the house. He said he was astonished that after the impeached speaker called him to congratulate him as the new speaker he went on to parade himself as still the speaker.
Sanda also called on the security agencies to arrest him for parading a fake mace.
Rt Hon Yakubu Sanda, who was visibly angered by the conduct of the former speaker said the house has set up two committees to investigate the former speaker’s financial embezzlement and misappropriation.
He explained that, the former speaker and 10 of his loyalist had connvained an illegal sitting in an event hall in Zawan where they announced a sham and baseless suspension of authentic leaders and members of the state house as well as breaking into the hallowed chembers of the honorable house, today Monday 1st November to further denigrate the house.
“This house must take firm measures to forestall such occurrences from happening again, declaring that this house hereby suspends the 6 member with effects from 1st November 2021 till further notice.”
Those suspended are: Hon Nuhu Abok Ayuba – Jos East, Hon Henry Longs – Pankshine South, Hon Dangtong Timothy – Riyom, Hon Musa Agah – Rukuba/Iregwe, Hon Bala Fwanje – Mangu South and Hon Nambol Listic – Langtang North.
He then called on the security agencies to take charge of the House and ensure that the suspended members are not allowed access to this Honourable House while their suspension persists.
He noted that the house will reconvene for proper sitting on Tuesday 2nd November 2021.
