The Vice President and the Chairman of the Jos 2016 Trade Fair, Chief Simon Tangni stressed the commitment of Plateau Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture(PLACCIMA) to contribute their quota in improving commercial activities, encourage entrepreneurship and industrialization by re introducing the Jos Trade Fair after 4 years of not organizing it in the State.
This effort is in accordance with the 5 point agenda of the executive governor of Plateau state, Rt Honorable Simon Bako Lalong. Chief Tangni stated this on Thursday 30th June, 2016 during a meeting between members of PLACCIMA Trade Fair committee and the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Honorable Ezekiel Daju at the Ministry.
Also in attendance was Mr Dauda G. Gashi, a Director in the Ministry, Alh. Sarumi- Vice President (Commerce), Mrs Yop Badamasi – Treasurer, Mr Job Jack Bot – Executive Director and the Consultant/co-organizer of the Trade Fair Miss Bolcit Patience Barshep, MD/CEO Anista Marketing and Events Limited based in Jos.
Chief Tangni informed the commissioner that plans are in top gear to involve the youths productively via Vocational training and skill acquisition which PLACCIMA and the Consultant are working on. The idea of vocational training and skills acquisition is in line with the 2016 trade fair theme; Promoting Entrepreneurship through MSME’s for Economic Development.
The Consultant,Miss Bolcit P.Barshep added that this year’s edition will experience something new and innovative. She said, apart from the usual trade fair activities, the organizers are working on inviting professionals from various fields to have a talk with over 2000 youths expected for the vocational training. Another 100 youths will be trained in the following fields namely: beads making, sewing, makeup and event management, talent management. Daily activities at the fair will include: daily exhibitions, product launches, children’s fun fair and daily musical concerts featuring upcoming and top Nigerian Artiste with regional appeal.
The Honorable commissioner in his response applauded the efforts of PLACCIMA, appreciating the efforts made thus far and commended the initiative as laudable, pledging the support of the state government and stated that the 2016 Jos trade fair will play a major role in opening Plateau state to the world and encourage investors. He said the current administration is doing all it can to propel the state back to its glory despite the scarcity of funds.
The meeting ended on a cordial note as the Honorable commissioner encouraged the team to keep up with the good work further assuring them of governments support, stating that the state government will do all it can to make the 2016 jos trade fair one to be remembered. There was a vote of thanks by the Vice president (Commerce) Alh Sarumi.
