Reality TV star Phyna has criticised Dangote Group for its public statement on the recent accident involving her sister, Ruth Otabor, and one of the company’s trucks.
The incident, which occurred in Auchi, Edo State, resulted in Ruth losing one of her legs. Dangote Group said in a statement that senior officials and its insurance team visited the accident site, met with law enforcement, and checked on the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
Phyna, however, took issue with the company’s wording and actions. She accused them of disrespect for referring to her sister as “Mrs.” and for allegedly taking photos of family members at the hospital without permission.
“Appropriate compensation!!! Quick recovery from an already amputated leg? Let’s not forget the bike man who is also in critical condition,” Phyna wrote on social media.
“Who gave permission to snap any member of my family and post it online? You turned a hospital visit into content. Moving forward, no discussions or meetings should happen where there’s a camera in sight. And what do you mean by Mrs Ruth Otabor — what narrative are you trying to start? Una dey play with me.”
She also stressed that both her sister and the injured motorcyclist deserve urgent, adequate compensation.
