19th of October was the official opening of the 2017 Jos Trade fair at the Jos Polo Field, Joseph Gomwalk Rd, Plateau State.
The Jos trade fair is organised by the Plateau Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PLACCIMA) in collaboration with ANISTA Marketing and Events Ltd.
The event commenced with the arrival of distinguished guests,
followed by the national anthem and dance performances by various cultural
groups from the different local government areas.
Various speeches were given. Notable among them are speeches by PLACCIMA president, CEO ANISTA marketing and Events and the Plateau state governor, Rt. Hon.Simon Bako Lalong who was ably represented by the deputy governor, Prof. Sonny Tyoden.
The CEO ANISTA marketing and Events Ltd, Bolcit Patience Barshep, in her speech expressed her gratitude to foreign and local exhibitors and all partners. She urged everyone to play a great role towards the success of the 2017 Jos Trade Fair.
Rt. Hon.Simon Bako Lalong began by addressing the issue of unrest happening in
bassa LGA, assuring the people that peace will soon return to the area. He
called for a one minute silence and urged all citizens to pursue peace and be
security conscious.
He went on to welcome every exhibitor to the fare and
said the theme ‘Sustaining the Promotion of
Entrepreneurship through MSME’s for Economic Development’ is in line with one
of the agendas of the present government to strengthen small and medium scale
entrepreneurship in the state.
He said the government is doing all it can to ensure that
businesses strive in the state by signing an mou for the jos market and tax relieve
programmes.
The governor commended PLACIMMA for encouraging economic and
commercial activities in the state.
He said the hosting of two trade fares in a row was a good
proof of the public-private partnership in the state and that the government will put in place all that is needed to do
biz easily in the state.
He concluded by officially opening the trade fair for the
year 2017 and led tour around the trade fair ground.
