Friday 1st July 2016, saw a peaceful protest staged by Shiite
Muslims in Jos, protesting the illegal detention of their leader Sheikh
Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
Protesters marched through the streets of Jos North chanting songs
asking for the immediate release of their incarcerated leader, while
also condemning Israel for occupying Palestine.
It would be recalled that on 12 – 13th December 2015, a confrontation
between members of El-Zakzaky’s sect and the Nigerian Army led to the
death of hundreds of members of the sect and the ultimate arrest of
Sheikh El-Zakzaky at his Zaria home.
