Former Manchester United and France midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly set to leave AS Monaco amid discussions over the possible termination of his contract.
The 2018 World Cup winner joined the Ligue 1 club last summer after being cleared to return to professional football following a doping suspension.
Pogba signed a two-year contract with Monaco that was expected to run until the end of the upcoming season. However, a fresh injury setback has reportedly accelerated the club’s decision to end the agreement.
According to reports by L’Equipe and Nice-Matin, Pogba suffered a serious thigh injury during a training session after collapsing in pain during a small-sided game.
The 33-year-old midfielder had only returned to training the previous week and was scheduled to undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury.
Monaco is now expected to negotiate with Pogba and his representatives over a settlement to terminate the remainder of his contract, which expires next summer.
Pogba returned to professional football in March 2025 after his four-year doping suspension was reduced on appeal.
Before joining Monaco, he had left Juventus after the Italian club terminated his contract by mutual consent in December 2024.
The move to Monaco was intended to provide Pogba with a pathway back into competitive football, but his return has been hampered by persistent injury problems.
He managed just six appearances for the French club last season, with his latest injury setback now putting his future at Monaco in doubt.
