The Plateau State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has strongly condemned the recent killings in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, describing the incident as barbaric and a threat to peace and national unity.
In a statement jointly signed by State Chairman, Apostle Joseph D. Rims, and State General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Olusunde Oluwafemi, the fellowship expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the continued loss of innocent lives, particularly during the Palm Sunday period.
The Christian body said the repeated attacks not only target members of the faith but also undermine the sanctity of human life and the collective peace of the nation.
PFN extended its condolences to families of the victims, while also expressing solidarity with those injured and affected by the violence. The group prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved and speedy recovery for the wounded.
The fellowship called on the Federal Government, Plateau State Government, and security agencies to take immediate and decisive steps to end the killings. It urged authorities to ensure that perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice and that measures are put in place to prevent further attacks.
Among its recommendations, PFN emphasized the need to strengthen intelligence gathering and security presence in vulnerable communities, as well as provide adequate relief and support to affected families.
The organization also appealed to Christians across the state to remain calm, law-abiding, and prayerful, cautioning against any form of retaliation. It stressed the importance of upholding values of peace, justice, and righteousness despite the provocation.
Furthermore, PFN called on the international community and human rights organizations to pay closer attention to the recurring violence in Plateau State and support efforts aimed at achieving justice and lasting peace.
The fellowship warned that Nigeria must not become a society where innocent lives are lost without accountability, urging authorities to act swiftly to restore confidence and security across the state.
