A growing online petition has called for a formal investigation into what it describes as “a disturbing pattern of power abuse” by Nigerian lawmaker and businessman, Senator Ned Nwoko.

As of the time of filing this report, 17,412 people had signed the petition, which accuses Nwoko of using his political and social influence to intimidate his wife, actress Regina Daniels, and her family.

According to the petition, “Ned Nwoko is a prominent public figure in Nigeria, yet recent actions reveal a troubling pattern of abuse of power, obstructing fundamental human rights, and intimidating Regina Daniels and her family. This petition seeks justice and accountability.”

It further alleged that the senator’s conduct goes beyond private marital issues, raising “a broader concern for justice and governance in the country.”

“Nwoko’s alleged misconduct is not only an affront to Regina Daniels and her family but also a potential threat to all Nigerians who believe in fairness, justice, and the rule of law,” the petition read.

The document also warned that “his actions, if left unchecked, could pave the way for an environment where influence overshadows justice,” urging Nigerians and the government to act.

The petition calls for government intervention and public accountability, insisting that “no public figure, regardless of their wealth or influence, should be above the law.” It also appealed to international human rights bodies to monitor the situation and support efforts to ensure transparency and justice.

“Your voice can make a difference,” the petition concluded. “Stand with us in protecting fundamental human rights and preventing the misuse of power. Sign this petition to demand accountability and uphold justice in Nigeria.”

The campaign follows recent allegations by Regina Daniels, who accused her husband, Ned Nwoko, of orchestrating the arrest of her elder brother and sister in a bid to compel her to return home and enter a rehabilitation programme.

In a series of emotional Instagram stories shared on Monday evening, the Nollywood star wrote:

“Someone pls help me. I feel like I’m losing my mind. My big brother and big sister have been arrested, my baby sister might be arrested soon as well until I return and, according to him, return to rehab.”

Regina also claimed that Nwoko labelled her a drug addict, adding:

“Don’t even get me started on telling the world what you did to me with your stupid rehab talk! You said I’m a drug addict… What other name can you call me? A prostitute? But I will speak on that one day and tell the world of your involvement with everything.”

Expressing her pain, the actress pleaded:

“Leave my family alone, Ned! And leave me alone too! It’s obvious it’s war! It’s a big shame that the beautiful but short legacy we built is about to be ridiculed by the whole world.”

Senator Nwoko, in his own statement titled “Regina’s Unprovoked Carnage and Rampage in My House and in My Absence”, countered the allegations, claiming Regina is battling drug and alcohol addiction.

He said he had proposed a rehabilitation programme either in Asokoro, Abuja, or abroad in Jordan, where she would be “safe and away from substances.”

The controversy deepened after a viral video surfaced showing Regina Daniels in distress, surrounded by relatives and aides, at one point fainting and crying that she “can’t stand the violence.”

“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing. But in my own house, I am a queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence; it’s too much,” she was heard saying.

The unfolding saga continues to generate intense public concern, as calls mount for authorities to investigate both the allegations of abuse of power and the claims of domestic violence within one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity marriages.
