Ilori was on Thursday beaten mercilessly by persons suspected to be
political thugs in Akure while attending the zonal meeting of the All
Progressives Congress in the state.
Ilori speaking after the encounter revealed that he was attacked by
thugs acting on the instructions of a top government appointee in Ondo
State (name withheld).
According to Punch, the incident took place at the International
Events Centre, Akure when Ilori left the hall to grant interview with
reporters at the entrance of the hall.
His clothes and underwear were torn by his attackers. Without any
elaborate explanation, Ilori alleged that a top Ondo State Government
official sent the thugs to attack him.
