Troops of the 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN have neutralised two bandits and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The intelligence-led operation was carried out on 12 May 2025 at Teng Mountain/Forest, a known hideout for armed criminals. According to a statement by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, troops engaged the suspects in a firefight and overpowered them with superior firepower, resulting in the death of two bandits.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of weapons and other items, including an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, a locally fabricated rifle chambered for 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, seven rounds of the same ammunition, four mobile phones, two motorcycles, and a cash sum of ₦157,900.
Major Zhakom disclosed that the recovered mobile phones are currently being analyzed to help track down other members of the criminal group, while the arms and ammunition are in military custody.
Operation SAFE HAVEN reiterated its commitment to stamping out criminal elements in the region, assuring the public that all illegal activities will be met with decisive military action.
