Operation safe Heaven, in collaboration with the Beautiful Gate Handicaps Peoples Center Jos, has distributed 220 tricycles, food items and cash tokens to handicaps.
The Commander Operation Safe Haven, Maj Gen IS Ali made the presentation to the physically challenged persons at an event held at the compound of Hillsation Hotel Jos, on Saturday 3rd September 2022.
In his remark, the Commander Operation Safe Haven who also doubles as the General Officer Commanding (GOC)3 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Ibrahim Ali said that the army was bound to employ both non-kinetic and Kinetic Measures to guarantee the safety of lives and properties of the citizens as well as promote peaceful coexistence amongst the people.
He said the military was happy in partnering with the Beautiful Gate Handicaps Peoples Center to distribute 220 Tricycles, foodstuff and cash tokens to the handicaps from the 17 Local Governments in Plateau State and 2 other local Governments in Bauchi State with the program also extended to 30 other persons from 5 local Government areas in Kaduna State.
“The initiative is very significant in peacebuilding efforts towards bringing everybody on board to ensuring lasting peace in Operation Safe Haven’s joint operations area in Plateau, parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states.”
“The Gesture is aimed at supporting the vulnerable members of the society, most especially the handicap with mobility and increase their meaningfulness participation towards peaceful coexistence.” He stated
Maj Gen Ali Said that Operation Safe Haven will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the security challenge threatening to reverse the successes recorded recently is tackled headlong.
The Director of Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Center Jos, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan said he was highly delighted in the partnership with Operation Safe Haven to assist people living with physical disabilities.
He said that a good number of the persons who are handicapped were polio survivors including himself who also is handicapped but has surmounted the challenge even with the NGO a Jos-based non-profit organization, that has taken it upon itself to provide relief by providing tricycles and food items to persons living with disability in various parts of Nigeria.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to go with the determination that they can conquer their disability and also be able to contribute their own quota to nation-building.
The beneficiaries who were very happy receiving the items were treated to entertainment and refreshments as they were handed over the tricycles, food items and cash tokens which they will take back to their various destinations.
