Nigerian football legend Sunday Oliseh has advised Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen to remain prayerful and committed to leading the Super Eagles to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Oliseh’s remarks come after the 26-year-old completed a permanent transfer from Napoli to Turkish giants Galatasaray, following failed moves to Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United this summer.
In a video circulating on social media, Oliseh stressed that Nigeria’s qualification for the next World Cup could be key to reigniting top European clubs’ interest in Osimhen.
“Victor has to pray,” Oliseh said. “He needs Nigeria to be at the next World Cup. He has to continue leading the team, but even more now, to make sure Nigeria qualifies. If Nigeria goes to the World Cup and he plays well, clubs will forget the issues surrounding him. Short of that, he will have a problem.”
Nigeria is currently fourth in Group C of the qualifiers, behind South Africa, Rwanda, and Benin Republic.
