JOS, Plateau State – The Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council, Mr. Pam Musa, has officially declared his intention to seek re-election ahead of the council’s 2026 executive elections, pledging to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration and further advance the welfare of members.
Musa made the declaration shortly after obtaining his nomination form at the NUJ Secretariat in Jos, where he reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the union through unity, professionalism and inclusive leadership.
Speaking with journalists, the NUJ Vice Chairman said his decision to seek a second term was informed by the progress recorded during his first tenure and his desire to build on the successes achieved by the current executive.
According to him, the accomplishments of the past three years were the product of collective effort, emphasizing that teamwork has remained the driving force behind the council’s achievements.
“By the grace of God, I am re-contesting for the position of Vice Chairman of the NUJ Plateau State Council for a second term because we have seen the efforts we have made together as a team,” Musa said.
He noted that under the present leadership, the council has witnessed remarkable improvements in members’ welfare, infrastructure, professionalism and unity among various NUJ chapels across the state.
Musa added that the administration has also enhanced the image and visibility of the Plateau State Council both within and outside the state, while encouraging greater commitment among members to the ideals of ethical journalism.
“I have come to add my value to the team we have on ground and continue the good work that we started earlier. If given another opportunity, we will do more than we have done before,” he stated.
The Vice Chairman pledged to sustain the momentum by supporting initiatives that would further reposition the council, strengthen collaboration among members and promote the highest standards of professionalism within the union.
Describing the forthcoming 2026 NUJ election as a “family affair,” Musa urged members to embrace peace and healthy competition throughout the electoral process.
He stressed that there was no room for rancour among contestants, assuring members that he would continue to champion unity, inclusiveness and teamwork if given another mandate.
Musa expressed confidence that with the continued support of members, the council would record even greater achievements in the years ahead while remaining committed to protecting the interests and welfare of journalists in Plateau State.
