NSCDC Sanctions 66 Officers Over Misconduct, Arms Dealing

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 66 personnel across its formations nationwide over various acts of misconduct, including involvement in arms dealing.

The Commandant General of the Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, disclosed this during an interview with journalists in Abuja on Friday, November 6, 2026.

Audi said the disciplinary measures included dismissal, compulsory retirement, demotion and warnings, depending on the nature and severity of the offences committed.

He explained that the sanctions followed investigations into allegations of misconduct against the affected personnel and were subsequently approved by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

The NSCDC boss added that some officers involved in serious offences would face prosecution, while others had already been dismissed following prosecution.

According to him, all affected personnel underwent established disciplinary procedures, including orderly room trials and investigations by the Senior and Junior Officers’ Disciplinary Committees before the recommendations were approved.

He noted that the affected officers were drawn from state commands, zonal commands, area commands, the national headquarters and other formations across the country.

Audi reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to discipline and professionalism, warning that it would not tolerate any conduct capable of undermining its standards.

He described the disciplinary exercise as a measure to strengthen accountability and serve as a deterrent to other personnel.

In a related development, the Commandant General disclosed that about 17,000 NSCDC personnel had recently been approved for promotion out of approximately 22,000 officers and men who participated in the promotion exercise.

He said the promotion results were ready and would be displayed on the corps’ notice boards to enable personnel verify their outcomes.

Audi commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting the promotion exercise and other institutional reforms aimed at improving the welfare and professional capacity of the corps.
