NPFL: Plateau Utd vs MFM, the battle between First and Second at Rwang Pam Stadium Jos

0

Plateau United host second- placed MFM FC at the Rwang Pang Stadium, Jos
in a fixture that could decide where the title ends up, perhaps it is stretching it to say this is the moment we have all been
waiting for – the matchup between the top two sides in the league.

Both team’s draw last weekend seems to set up this fixture nicely, it
would have been even perfect had MFM FC had a realistic chance of
overhauling the Peace Boys at the top of the table. MFMFC would need to
win by a margin of 23 goals to go to the summit of the NPFL table.

The absence of the NPFL highest goal scorer, Stephen Odey (18), his
fearsome strike partner, Sikiru Olatunbosun, and Plateau United’s shot
stopper, Dele Ajiboye – all due to National team involvements – takes a
punch out of the match, but the fixture still promises to deliver tense,
high octane, edge-of-the-seat football.

Kenedy Boboye’s wards will count on the vociferous Jos supporters and
their impressive home form (15 wins, 1 draw) to keep them on track of
winning their maiden premier league title.

The table-toppers have relatively easy ties afterwards and could be
champions if they emerge from the fixture unscathed (a draw or a
victory). Their remaining fixtures are against sides in the bottom-half
of the table: ABS, Rivers United, Wikki Tourists, Enugu Rangers.

MFMFC still have to travel to Maiduguri, Borno State in the last game
of the season but their minds will be on the Plateau United-shaped
obstacle before them. The Olukoya Boys have avoided a 15-hour road trip
by taking the 1021Km journey by air, which will ensure that players
especially silky midfielder, Chukwuka Onuwa, are fresh and ready to
battle in the epic clash between both sides.
