NPFL: Plateau United move to 2nd on table after Beating Lobi In Jos

NPFL Champions Plateau United beat Lobi Stars 2-1 in their rescheduled
Nigeria Professional Football League match day 17 fixture in Jos on
Wednesday to breathe a new life into the title race.

Lobi Stars maintained top spot in the table with 37 points despite
the defeat , while Plateau United moved into second position, a point
behind their title rivals.

It was Solomon Ogbeide’s men’s first defeat in seven NPFL games.

The Makurdi club netted the game’s opening goal in the 27th minute through Sunday Akleche.

Plateau United were awarded a penalty five minutes before the break when Umar Zango fouled Saidu Salisu in the box.

Reuben Bala duly converted the spot kick to ensure his side went into the half-time break level with the visitors.

Bala netted the winner from the spot five minutes from time.

The penalty was awarded after new boy Jesse Akila was fouled inside the box.
