The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of petrol from N890 to N905 per litre at its retail outlets in Abuja’s Wuse Zone 4 and Zone 6, marking a N15 or 1.7% upward adjustment.
The latest increase comes amid ongoing supply challenges linked to a recent industrial dispute between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the management of Dangote Refinery.
President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, confirmed the development, attributing the price hike to the temporary supply disruption caused by the strike action.
“It is due to PENGASSAN’s strike disruption. However, members still sell at N885 and N895 per litre,” Maigandi told DAILY POST.
The PENGASSAN strike, which was triggered by allegations of mass sacking of Nigerian engineers by Dangote Refinery, led to a two-day halt in fuel supply operations before the federal government’s intervention brought it to a temporary suspension.
Although supply activities have resumed, the ripple effects of the disruption appear to be reflecting at the pump, with NNPCL and independent marketers adjusting prices slightly upward.
