NLC, TUC Congratulate Douglas Francis on Emergence as NUJ Correspondents Chapel Chairman

The Plateau State Councils of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have congratulated Arise News Correspondent, Douglas Francis, on his emergence as Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council.

In separate congratulatory messages, NLC Chairman, Eugene Manji, and his TUC counterpart, Kenneth Shammeh, commended members of the Correspondents Chapel for electing Francis, describing his emergence as a well-deserved recognition of his commitment and contributions to the Chapel.

The labour leaders said Francis’ election came at a crucial time when the media’s role in promoting peace, unity, justice, development and social cohesion remains indispensable to nation-building and sustainable development.

They expressed confidence that the newly elected chairman would bring wisdom, humility, vision and exemplary leadership to the office while strengthening unity and cooperation among members of the Chapel.

The NLC and TUC chairmen assured Francis of their goodwill, prayers and support as he begins his tenure.

They also stressed the importance of the longstanding partnership between the labour movement and the media in promoting peaceful coexistence, social development and the overall wellbeing of society.

The labour leaders expressed optimism that Francis’ tenure would be marked by remarkable achievements that would contribute to the growth of journalism and make a positive impact on the wider society.

They wished him a successful and impactful tenure as Chairman of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel, Plateau State Council.
