An 18-year-old Nigerian-born student, Abiola Abidoye, has achieved national recognition in the United Kingdom after earning the highest A-Level grade in Law across the country.

Abidoye, a student of One Sixth Form College in Ipswich, secured A* grades in mathematics, further mathematics, law, and physics. Despite excelling in sciences, he stunned many by topping the country in law, a subject he described as not his “strong suit.”

He scored 224 out of 240 across three law papers, making him the best-performing candidate nationwide.

“I am really pleased,” Abidoye said. “Maths and physics are my strong suits, but I did law because it’s my passion. I’m very passionate about different types of law, even some we didn’t study, like human rights. I wasn’t expecting to do so well.”

Reflecting on his achievement, he admitted the result came as a surprise. “I saw that result before my others, so I was already nervous. I put in an immense amount of work, staying up to ungodly hours. I’m not sure I’d do it again because it was very difficult, but I am pretty happy.”

He credited his teachers for their support and said he plans to study mathematics at university, with aspirations of building a career in banking or finance.
