The Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Oluwatope Aluko.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
The Corps said efforts are underway to locate and arrest the suspect to enable a full investigation and the application of appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with existing military laws.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, indiscipline and any action capable of undermining its operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation or threatening national security.
It warned that any military personnel found aiding terrorists, criminals or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of military and civil laws.
The Corps appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies with credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or other security agencies without delay.
The NAOC reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets, assuring Nigerians that it would continue to strengthen internal control mechanisms and ensure that every allegation of misconduct is thoroughly investigated, with those found culpable held accountable in accordance with the law.
