Nigerian Army Announces Field Training Exercise in Bauchi Community, Urges Residents Not to Panic

The Nigerian Army has announced plans to conduct its annual Field Training Exercise, codenamed Exercise MUGUN BUGU V, also known as Operation GARKUWAN DAJI, in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The exercise is scheduled to take place from November 6 to 19, 2026.

In a press release, the Army urged members of the public, particularly residents, farmers, herders and commuters in Alkaleri and neighbouring communities, not to panic over the sound of gunshots, explosives or the movement of large numbers of troops and military equipment during the exercise.

The Army explained that these activities are part of the planned training exercise and reassured residents that necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the period.

The statement, signed by Major Godfrey Abakpa, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Training Centre, Kontagora, called on the public to cooperate with the military and remain calm during the exercise.
